you can lose weight quickly with a low carb diet. But they make you very moody. And when you go off the diet (you will HAVE to eventually) you will gain weight much easier than before you ever starved yourself of carbs. Any carbs you consume will be stored directly as fat. Not a very good idea if you are just trying to lose weight. Try exercising- best thing to do. However, it’s alright to LIMIT your carbs.

no! definitely no! low carb diets will make you loose weight fast but after few weeks you will gain (and sometimes more) weight.
what really helps is eating a balanced diet. there are many on specialized books (my wife favorite is French Women don’t get fat http://www.amazon.com/French-Women-Dont-... the idea is not loose weight fast but to do it properly (think on how much time took you to have those extra pounds… ).

yes they do, but once you start eating you gain it back. SO its up to you, and what you lose the frist week or two is water weight, its not fat. People lose 10 pounds and think its a miracle, well its impossible its water weight. Anywayz I have tried it and i have lost. You have to keep it under 20 grams of carbs, i worked out as well. in 2 weeks I noticed right away, i went down a pant size. It was Atkins Diet. You can also try Kimkins diet, its similar, just google it. Also you can just eat low carb, and just eat lean meats, and eat fruit just not too much of it and vegies? Well if you are looking to lose weight and not gain it back fast, this diet is not good. Better watch your calories and work out you will see better results and they will last longer, and you will look great from working out, tight and toned.

You are going to get all kinds of conflicting answers with this one! Many people who are into diet/nutrition will religiously defend their diets and put down others whose beliefs conflict their own. Who do you choose to believe, and do you trust that they have done their homework or are just repeating what they read in magzines or heard from others?
I am a strong supporter of the low carb way after having done a fair bit of research and having gone through the whole process from being overweight to reaching my target weight (lost over 30lbs) and maintaining it ever since. If you are keen to explore low carb diets, I suggest you read up on it first instead of doing it blindly. A good book to start with is “Living the Low Carb Life” by Jonny Bowden. The diet I would recommend is Atkins. Yes it is safe, but don’t just take my word for it. Read up on it, then do it and judge for yourself!
One word of caution: if you are looking for a short term weight loss crash diet, you be better off looking elsewhere. Real low carbing is typically a 3-phase effort, with the last phase lasting for life. Good news is that most of us find it easy to adhere to, and it DOES keep the weight off. Not only that, you will find so many other health benefits that come with it. Anyone who regains weight after doing low carb is treating this as a crash diet instead of a lifestyle change, simply returning to the bad old ways of eating once they have lost some weight. You can have long term success on low carb, but you have to do it right and go into it with the right mindset! Good luck…

There are good carbs and bad carbs. Make sure you find a diet that has a healthy balance of both.
