I am 120 lbs over weight and started a low carb diet and followed it didn’t cheat. I weighted one week after starting the diet and gained 1.5 lbs why? I am about to give up and just be fat until it kills me. Any answers to why I would again weight would be most helpful. Thanks.

You are not supposed to weigh yourself until the end of the second week. I gained at first when I was on it, but then dropped a lot of weight a couple days later. These are things you have to keep in mind:
Are you really eating foods fattier than you otherwise would? You shouldn’t increase your fat intake too much.
Are you drinking enough water? Carbs make you retain water so you lose water weight in the low carb diet. If you aren’t drinking double the water you used to, start.
Are ALL your carbs coming from veggies or at least most of them?
Are you having aspartame (such as diet soda) because that is just as bad as having carbs….use splenda.

I’ve learned that diets don’t work in the end. Instead, you should eat healthy and workout. I stopped eating junk food and started to eat healthy food, I stopped drinking soda, and started drinking water. With just that I lost a lot of weight! When I feel hungry I drink water and weight twenty minutes, and if I still feel hungry afterwords I’ll eat something healthy. I usually don’t feel hungry after the twenty minutes. When you go to the store don’t buy any junk food. I know it’s hard at first, but trust me it is for the best. If you start getting cravings eat some fruit. I also started working out. I lift weights, I also started dancing a little bit, and I also started swimming. Here are the two amazing books that has helped me alot. The Diet Book for Teenagers Only by Carrie Wiatt and Barbara Schroeder & Toning for Teens by Joyce Vedral. I know this wasn’t the answer to your question, but I hope it helps.
    Good luck!!

I think your metabolism is slow or your body went into starvation mode and is not burning the stored fat. First workout and eat more protein diet to increase your metabolic rate and then go for any diet plan for desired result. I did this and got miraculous result.http://www.skinsheen.com/articles-diet-p…http://www.skinsheen.com/articles-weight…

did you weigh on the same scale? cuz i kept weighn myself on dif scales so i thot i lost 10 pounds. wen i weighd myself on the 1st scale i only lost 5. so take that into consideration.plus i kno how temptin it is to weigh yourself every damn day (lol) but once a month is best. a week will NOT show results. low carb diets are hard though. just limit ur portions, eat healthy and excersice. but i think you forgot carbs and started eatin everythin else. u shouldnt eat low carbs. low everythin if you want results. eat everythin just in moderation and don’t eat 2-3 hours before u sleep. good advice is eat 5-6 SMALL meals a day to speed up your metabolism and excersice. you shuld be slim in no time. just be patient. there’s buety in every girl.

Stop “Dieting” and start eating. You don’t have to give up carbs to lose weight. Carbs are really important in a diet…it’s all about portion control, nothing else. Eat the carbs, just read the back of the package and eat the correct amount.

lay off meat and dairy along with the carbs.
eat plenty of fresh produce fruits and vegetables with every single small meal u have. ( should have like 5 or 6 small meals a day)
    only drink water and juice.
    EXCERSIZE!
    dont diet; change your lifestyle.

Have you been pooing regularly? Low carb diets tend to make one constipated.

Throw your scale away. It lies to you. Give your body time to adjust.

Negative Calorie Foods

The phrase, "negative calorie food", as highlighted in negative calorie diet programs and books, usually refers to foods that allegedly require more energy to digest than they contain. Since the process of digestion requires the use of calories for energy, sometimes the net amount of metabolizable energy available from a food is less than the gross number of calories contained in the food.
