If I’m On A Low Carb Diet, How Many Carbs Am I Allowed To Have In A Day?

My dr said my all of my numbers are too high and that if I keep eating the way I am I will become diabetic. I’ve never had a weight problem or had to watch what I ate until a few years ago. Now I’m so confused. I feel like I can’t eat anything. HELP!

If you are on a low carb diet, the diet should tell you or your doc. Different low carb diets have different guidelines…the problem is when you get off the diet you tend to put any weight lost right back on when carbs are put back in your diet (and good carbs are necessary for good health).
Talk to a nutritionist about what you should be eating for your particular health issue. This sounds like it’s not just an attempt to lose weight and THIS isn’t the place to be getting answers that can seriously affect your life/health.

On my carb diet I ate less than 24 carbs a day. I lost 10 pounds in a week! Wish I could try that again. Plus drink a lot of water.

You have a pre-diabetic condition. start a walking program NOW. Cut out refined sugars, no cookies, cake , pie, candy, regular sodas etc. If you are predestined to develop diabetes, you can’t avoid it, but you can postpone it.

Try a low-fat diet instead. But still limit your carbs. Drink 1-2 quarts of water a day.

What numbers? Glucose? HDL? Stop eating refined things. “White is not right”…bread, sugar, white rice, etc. Stick to brown rice, Splenda is OK, wheat breads made only with wheat and grains, oats, etc. Lots of veggies and low glycemic foods. I found a good web site for you! :)
