Are There Any Safe Low Carb. High Protien Diets For Someone Who Is Over Weight & Hypoglycemic?
My wife is tring to deal with losing weight eating properly so that we can live along and heathy life together. Is there anyone with a similar condition? We are interested in hearing form you.
Thank You!

The unsafe low-carb diet is the one that says “eat as much fat as you want”. To do low-carb safely, eat lean meats like fish, chicken (no skin), and lean cuts of pork and beef (if you really feel the need for pork and beef). Vegetables can be eaten without restriction and tasty recipes will keep your taste buds happy.
I’ve done Atkins and it has worked, but I “fell off” and gained back weight. The second time around, it’s harder because I love steak – and rice and potatoes and sweets! Plus I’m older now.
Atkins was criticized for its allowance/encouragement of fatty foods. But low-carb in general, I believe, is sensible, by the medical books (physiology) and by the suggestions already given for diabetics.
Buy or borrow the Atkins book and just keep the fat out of your diet. The Zone (or Sugar Busters?) is interesting: it allows certain fibrous fruits that Atkins does not (because fruit has sugar).
It will be difficult, but I think low-carb works. Of course, exercise is essential to a successful weight-loss/weight-control program. And keep the tempting foods out of the house. It also helps if you and your wife do this together, because if anyone else shares the house but not the diet, you’ll want to give up.
The south beach diet is perfect for this. Also low carb high protien is what she should be eating anyway if she has hypoglycemia as carbs turn directly into glucose causing a spike in blood sugar and if she hasn’t eaten any protein with the carbs her blood sugar will then drop quickly causing a hypoglycemic episode. The best thing she can do is eat 3 meals per day with a protein snack mid morning, mid afternoon and before bed. Have her look into the south beach diet.
I’m hypoglycemic too. I follow the diabetic diet, because that condition is the opposite. Check out sites on the web.
Weight reduction will help the diabetes. Choose a low calorie diabetic diet and it should work. About 10-20 cal/kilo. See http://www.diabeticdiets.com
