Do you take meds for it? My friend has thyroid problems.. dieting doesn’t help her, she has to adjust her dosage with the doctor.

I don’t have an under active thyroid but I have lost 45 lbs on the low carb diet…and I know for a FACT that it is one of the only things that will help an under active thyroid. So absolutely the low carb diet is safe for thyroid issues. Please note I am only speaking of the Atkins diet, the one I am familiar with. If you read the Atkins book, he will mention how effective this is for people with hypothyroidism.
Another thing that is supposed to help hypothyroidism is coconut oil. You can look it up, or go to my website if you have more questions.
I hope this works for you. There is such success with this diet that I am sure it will.

Learning to control or manage carbs is always a good idea. But T3 will help you as well. See a doctor, ask him/her about T3.
I would not use the medicine as a crutch however. I would still recommend you educate yourself on all the macronutrients (protein/fats/carbs) and how they interact with our body composition.
    good luck!
edit: you are on t4. t3 is more efficient.

I’m a pharmacist. Hypothyroidism is very treatable with thyroid replacement medication. You should consult your doctor.

Why are your doctors not treating your thyroid disorder ? There are perfectly good treatments which should bring you back to normal.
