Low Carb Diet While On Metformin?
Hi, I have been on a low carb (no potatoes, pasta, rice, bread, sugar) diet – Ketosystem. My doctor has just started me on Metformin and I need to know if I should add one serve of wholemeal bread to my diet now that I am on Metformin – my doctor is away so I can’t ask him. I would really appreciate the benefit of someone elses experience.
I am on my first round of clomid too.

My doctor prescribed me metformin AND a lowcarb diet. They actually go hand in hand. I am starting back up on the South Beach which was what I did while I was on Met (I just restarted back on it) and dropped 40 pounds. They came out with a new SB program called Supercharged which I just ordered the book and cannot wait to get. Since being back on Met and watching what I eat in 2 months I’ve lost 27 pounds!!!
Good luck!!!

You shouldn’t cut out all carbs. it’s not good, if you do ever eat carbs you’re body will react and turn it all to fat.
The best thing to go with Metformin in terms of diet is a low GI diet, you can most definitely add a serve of wholemeal bread, it is wise to keep some carbs in your diet just not many.
I went on a Low GI diet and exercise to compete in the Biggest Loser Competition at my local women’s health club (Gym) and by doing so I lost in a healthy way 20 kilos in 10 weeks.
the best thing is not to cut all carbs out, just bad carbs. Whole grains are best, whole grain bread, pasta. If you are still unsure, ask your doc when he gets back, but I am sure the whole grains should not be a problem.
