That’s just it, it’s a low carb diet. I did it years ago and lost 40 lbs. in 4 months and I did keep it off almost 2 years. I kept my carbs less than 50 a day.     When they are on a low carb diet, the body goes into hypothyroid mode — to conserve energy and convert all available carbs to energy store –> fat/weight gain. The body is worried and prepares for starvation.
