I Am Going Out Tonight—i’m On Low Carb Diet. What Is A Good Alcoholic Beverage To Have That Is Low Carb?

Stay away from Beer all together…. even though some brands advertise as Ultras or Selects saying they have half the carbs of regular beers… they still have a TON of carbs in them.
This site lists some of the most popular beers and their carb counts: http://lowcarb4life.sugarbane.com/lowcar…
I would suggest getting something with diet soda, something like a Jack and Diet Coke… or a Skinny *****, which is vodka and diet soda…
I would say to stick with whatever drink you like best, BUT have it in moderation, only have 1 or 2 drinks tonight, and make sure you drink plenty of water in between. There is no way to drink alot and maintain your diet… it’s really tough. Best Wishes! :-)

Definitely Rum and Diet Coke. No carbs or sugar. Anything else is going to have carbs.

My wife and I are doing the South Beach diet, so no carb drinking is an item we have looked into. First of all, NO beer is truly low carb. The different in carb amounts in a Michelob Ultra and a Bud Light is literally a sesame seed.
With that in mind, any liquor should be fine. Baccardi has had a great marketing gimic by saying no calories, but most liquors are the same. Unless it is spiced rum (which they add molasses in good ones) there will not be calories in any of them. Bourbon, Straight Wiskey, Rum, Vodka, Tequilla, any of these should be fine.
Liqueurs are no good (such as triple sec, gold schlager. I promise that there is not one out there that does not have sugar added. Same goes for the malted fruit drinks (Hard Lemonade, Hard Berry, etc). Those are terrible for you. Anything with margarita or sour mix is also loaded with sugar. As you know from your diet fruit juices are also high in carbs. Really your only bet is to stick with diet cola (or another diet drink if they have one). They may have diet red bull, but usually not. Whatever you like to mix with a diet drink is fine.
Please keep in mine one thing, there is actually on such thing as ANY low carb alcohol. Alcohol is a toxin. The liver thus takes this toxin out of the blood and converts it to something that is not dangerous. The converted substance is sugar. Alcohol, any alcohol, in the end turns into sugar. It is the way the body processes. I read a figure that you need to factor about 70 calories for every shot you have. Keep this in mind when drinking that even if initially it is low carb, in the end it will not be. Have fun.

If you are doing low carb you want to stay away from juices – they have tons of sugars. Bacardi and Diet soda with a splash of lime is probably the best. Zero carbs and sugars in Bacardi.

I have been on a low carb diet and have had great results.
The hardest part for me was giving up beer.
The best substitute I have found is vodka and soda with a lime.
If you break down and get a quality vodka (i.e. grey goose, belvidere, or tito’s) you won’t have any aftertaste and will really enjoy the flavor.

    red wine.
just 2 or 3 glasses every so often.
    :D
cons of red wine… drink too much daily you’ll get high triglyceride counts… that’s fatty material in the blood.
it’s sort of like lipids but it’s not hard. (lipids are called cholesterol) triglycerides are softer and move in the blood unlike cholesterol. lipids hang onto arterial walls and harden arteries.
wine isn’t packed full of carbs like beer.
or most foo foo drinks.. or mixed drinks.
now vodka can work.. with some tabasco.. that’s called an abortion. ask for it by name :D
the lesser mixed the better.. the purer the better.
red wine unfortunately i think is the best.. ask for a cabernet or a shiraz.
the darker the red the better.
    but that’s my suggestion..
me personally i’d ask for an rum eggnog or a pina colada.. real high in carbs!
    :D
the user ‘aimstir31′ had a real good suggestion if you can swallow it.. vodka and cranberry is good.. it also has many properties to it that will work wonders for the digestive tract and bladder… the vodka is a pure liquor and a blood thinning agent with hardly any inert materials and the cranberry is great for the liver, kidneys and cholesterol!
