What’s A Great Breakfast You Can Make For Someone On A No Or Very Low Carb Diet??

Bacon, sausage, or ham (check the carbs on each, you can find no-carb ones), and eggs …cheese (hard cheese is usually no carb)…coffee with half n’ half (one carb per serving on that) and for flavor I like the sugar free (carb free) flavored syrups in my coffee instead of plain “fake sugar”.
You can make the eggs into an omelet with small amounts of onion, green pepper, etc without going very ‘carby’.
Depending on the carb level the person wants to keep, there are also low carb bread/bagel options available, as well as a low carb baking mix so you could make biscuits or something like that if desired.
There are also a lot of low carb breakfast bars out there, but that’s more of a quickie breakfast.
This site http://www.calorielab.com has TONS of food and beverages listed so you can check calorie and carb content on them to make sure you’re within the limit you want to be.

I’m in the health care business and work with a diebetic. He needs to watch his carb intake. He really likes bagels with a little bit of butter (about 4 carbs). He also likes waffles with sugar free syrup (about 5 carbs). Hope this helps.

no carb: steak and eggs with cheese. any meats with eggs and dairy, really. bacon cured WITHOUT sugars.
low carb: the same as above but with vegetables like onion, garlic, green and red peppers, even jarred salsa (as long as it has no sugar).

I’m on one of the low carb diets. Mine is usually an omelet of eggs, ham, cheese (Colby-Jack blend) with a little green pepper cut up small.

Breakfast is the best meal on that diet! Omelette’s with just about anything in it. ( ham, sausage, bacon, onions peppers, tomato’s, broccoli, cheeses) Top it off with Salsa. Remember, NO Potato’s or Toast! Scrambled eggs w/ ham and cheese. Use your imagination! Good Luck! This diet really works! Stick with it.

    scrambled eggs with Cheese
    whole wheat toast
    bacon or sausage
    coffee
    cottage cheese
not all carbs are not bad. Check out the glycemic index to determine what foods are best for low carbers. I am reading the South Beach diet book right now, and the body secretes insulin, which is stored as fat when foods that have a high glycemic index are eaten. Anything over 70 should be avoided.

    Breakfast Casserole
I learned this from an old sheepherder in southern Utah.
    1 lb link sausage
    6 eggs
1/2 lb grated sharp cheddar cheese
    salt and pepper
    6 servings
    1. Cook sausage in oven proof pan (I use cast iron).
    2. Remove cooked sausage and drain the grease; add eggs, sausage, and cheese, place in 350 degree oven and cook until eggs are set.
