I Have Been Following A Strict Low Carb Diet For One Week. Why Am I Not Experiencing Ketosis Yet?

I have used Ketone test strips. Am I doing something wrong? Could I have a medical problem which is preventing ketosis? Does it often take longer than 3-5 days? Is there anything more I can do?

Your liver will only make ketones out of fat if you have zero insulin released for 3 days straight, which means you have to consume almost zero carbs. You have to be really careful once you are in ketosis though, as it could become ketoacidosis leading to death.

Hmm, depends on what “low carb” diet you’re working with.
I don’t think ketosis will happen with low carb, only no carb.
