Low-carb Diet And Low Carb Ice Cream?

i recently started cutting out my carbs to try to drop some pounds. it has been about 4 days. i haven’t had any breads, pastas, carb like veggies, sugary soda, juice, etc.
however, i have had a cup (1 serving) of low carb bryers butter pecan ice cream each day. the ingredients say that it only has 4 grams of carb per serving and is sweetened with splenda. i don’t have to have the ice cream. but it’s nice to treat myself with it after i’ve done a great job of not touching anything “carby” throughout the day.
am i killing my low carb diet by having the low carb ice cream? will the weight not drop off as fast as it should be because of this?

    Possibly. Probably.
It may be that even the idea of something sweet gets the insulin reaction going in your system even if you don’t eat anything actually containing foods high on the glycemic index. When you eat something sweet, even if it is saccharin or splenda or stevia, your body still thinks it is sugar and reacts accordingly. The response may not be as long lasting or as large as actually eating sugar but, there is a reaction.
Everyone is different and if you are happy with how you feel and the amount of weight (mostly water right now) that is coming off then you should do as you like. If you are not happy or if you hit a plateau then I would drop all of the processed low carb things as well as anything with a sweet taste to get you going again.
It can be difficult but you do lose your cravings for sweets after awhile but I have found that the craving can return if you go back to eating many sweet-tasting things including berries. Summer berries and tomatoes are too good to resist though.
The problem with sweet tasting things also extends to diet sodas. They can really stall weight loss.
If you want to give yourself a rich reward, you might try some macadamia nuts. They are crunchy and rich and expensive enough to feel like a real treat.
In the absence of dietary carbohydrates, your body can still turn excess dietary protein into glucose.

low carb diets only slow your metabolism so it really beats the purpose. And you are skipping veggies! no offence but how foolish! Vegetables are low in carbs and if anything provide healthy carbs. You should really be cutting fat and not carbs. Also increase your protein intake.

Believe it or not-no carb is worse than low carb. the best way to shed pounds is not by “starvation”-but eating balanced and boosting your energy.
By indulging in cardio activities, you will naturally raise your motabolism. In the first few days of “dieting” your going to see an increase or decrease in weight due to water retension or relaxation. It’s important to stay hydrate in a lifestyle change as it helps reglate your body and core tempeture, as well as boost energy and other chemicals needed.
Carbs are an important brain food that actually are needed unless otherwise directed by a doctor.

Low-carb, no-carb is a bad idea. As soon as you start eating normal again, you will gain all the weight back, and probably more. Carbs are necessary for good health. You should stay away from refined carbs and sugar and artificial sweeteners, which aren’t good for your health.
Eat your veggies and whole grains!!
P.S. Sucralose (Splenda) has the chemical composition of an insecticide.

Negative Calorie Foods

The phrase, "negative calorie food", as highlighted in negative calorie diet programs and books, usually refers to foods that allegedly require more energy to digest than they contain. Since the process of digestion requires the use of calories for energy, sometimes the net amount of metabolizable energy available from a food is less than the gross number of calories contained in the food.
