Why Is This Happening To Me?!?
I have always had irregular periods (mainly heavy and lasting way too long) because I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. 2 weeks ago I started a low-carb lifestyle (about 30-40 carbs per day) and have lost about 10 pounds. This is the only diet that has ever helped me lose weight because I have tried everything under the sun.
So anyway, the past 2 days I have had an EXTREMELY HEAVY AND EXTREMELY PAINFUL period. Heavier than I’ve ever had (soaking more than one super plus tampon ever hour) and the cramps are so bad I can hardly walk. I have tried midol, progesterone cream on the skin, and heating pads and nothing is working! What could be wrong with me? I have recently been to a good gyno in Atlanta, Ga and she did an ultrasound and papsmear and she said everything looked totally normal, including my uterus, ovaries, cervix, etc. She did not see any reason for my irregular periods except for the fact that I have PCOS. I have been tested by several doctors for cervical cancer, polyps in my uterus, etc when I’ve had ongoing periods but no period has ever been this bad before. Along with this period I am shaky, weak, dizzy, and just woozy feeling. I tested my blood sugar and it was 106 which I think is normal and I the last time I ate was about an hour ago. Please help because I don’t have health insurance anymore
I have PCOS too. Sucks doesn’t it?
My periods were the same way, but they only came about 3 times a year. I could soak through a super plus tampon and a pad in about an hour.
I suggest that you call your doctor and tell them what’s going on.. This isn’t normal. Are you on birth control? My doctor put me on BC and Glucophage. It has helped my periods so much! They now last four days, and they aren’t nearly as heavy as they used to be. If you aren’t on the meds, you really need to be. Not just for your periods, but for your overall health. PCOS is a wonderful disease that causes weight gain, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, ovarian cancer, etc. The medicine really helps to take care of the symptoms. The glucophage helps you loose weight and controls diabetes(its a diabetes medicine). The birth control makes your cycle more regular, less heavy, and less painful. If you aren’t on the medicine you need to ask your doctor about it. You can get the birth control from a clinic for free.. The glucophage may cost a little, but it’s worth it if it takes care of your problems.
The reason you are dizzy and woozy is because you are loosing so much blood. In reality, it’s really not all that much blood, but it’s enough to effect you. It’s just like donating blood, only a lot more painful! 106 is normal, but make sure you keep eating to keep it up. Lay down and rest for a while tp take care of the shaking and everything.
One thing I have found that works for cramps like that is this.. Lay down on the floor and put your legs up against the bed/couch/chair/wall. Scoot your butt up until it touches whatever you are laying against. When you are laying like that take a deep breath. Hold it in for as long as you can, and then exhale slowly, pushing your stomach all the way out. Repeat until you start to feel better. It always works for me.. It even works when my cramps are so bad that I wanna lay in the floor and cry. I think it’s because it relaxes all the muscles, including the uterus, so it stops cramping.
Hope this helps!! And I hope you feel better.. =)

drink lots of water and when you have cramps sit in a hot bath. Maybe this diet helps you loose weight but makes you unhealthy…
